This is easily the only section where Instant Immersion German falls short. We had a hard time finding anything that resembled a FAQ section and found only a section filled with random articles that didn’t really answer any important questions. The only way we found to get help was to log a question at the bottom of the technical support page and receive a list of documents that answer questions resembling ours.

Fundamentals:  

Instant Immersion does a great job of hitting the fundamentals of the German language. Through fun and easy-to-use activities, this program lays the groundwork for more advanced learning later in life.

Instant Immersion comes in a nine disc set and is broken down into three levels. The first level provides lessons on basic German words. Each word is presented in German and English, as well as being accompanied by some sort of visual. The second level is dedicated to more advanced vocabulary and common German phrases. This level also brings in dialogue practice with the help of videos of native German speakers. The third level is simply a step up from the second level, with more advanced dialogue and words.

We were extremely impressed with the amount of information presented by Instant Immersion German. The vocabulary list was extensive, as was the common phrases and categories of which you could choose to learn about.

The only thing we didn’t like about how Instant Immersion presented their material was that they didn’t provide a thorough description of sentence structure. So you’ll learn how to say certain phrases, but you may still be unclear as to how that sentence came together.

Effectiveness:  

Instant Immersion is an effective German language teaching tool which offers a variety of activities, examples and games, all of which make learning fun and easy. One of the biggest pitfalls to overcome in language learning is staying motivated. With many interactive games and teaching techniques, in particular the speech recognition, Instant Immersion keeps you on track to master the German language.

One feature exclusive to Instant Immersion is the, Who Is Oscar Lake? mystery game which requires you to use German to crack the case. This program, which is one of the three bonus disc, is a fun way to wind down your German learning experience, and serves as great practice.

Instant Immersion also uses images, videos and audio to teach. Native German speakers are present on the screen to walk you through the steps in both English and German. All of these features make Instant Immersion German conducive to any learning style.
