The main navigation of Learn GermanNow! is simple, but the individual sections are challenging because the icons used aren't obvious; sometimes we had to guess what icons represented.

Feature Set:  

This deluxe package offers you several features to learn German. One that we found quite valuable is the ability to slow down the pronunciation of each German word. This approach will let you hear exactly how each German word is pronounced. Learn GermanNow! also offers you a word-check feature so you can focus on a few German words.

Another feature that stood out was the big video screen, where you can select an interesting article or story to explore the German language using media resources. You can also view videos filled with sights and sounds of people interacting in German, bringing you one step closer to a real German language setting.

One feature that needs improvement is the Learn GermanNow! voice recognition. The software records your voice and compares it to a native, but we found this was often inaccurate.

The installation of Learn GermanNow! was simple.

Help/Support:  

The help and documentation part of Learn GermanNow! Deluxe was excellent. The typical email response time was two business days. Technical support is open Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. EST, and the manufacturer offers FAQs and updates on the website. You can also fill out a technical support request form or call the support line at 1-800-567-9619.

Fundamentals:  

The grammar section of Learn GermanNow! Deluxe offers a series of grammar tutorials and quizzes that cover grammar well. This program will also teach you proper sentence construction and fundamentals behind correct pronunciation. You will increase your listening comprehension easily by using the tools offered in Learn GermanNow! Deluxe.

Effectiveness:  

Learn GermanNow! Deluxe will help you develop your German language skills in the convenience of your home. The program offers diverse applications across several teaching styles to fit most learning styles. With time, this program will help you move from novice level to an intermediate German level.

Because this is an immersion program, it helps to have some knowledge of German-perhaps one or two classes-before you'll feel completely comfortable using it. If you a grasp of basic German, then Learn GermanNow! Deluxe will take you to the next level.
