The main program, Learn German Now, is easy to use. Because this is a bundled suite you must open different programs to get to the specific feature or learning technique you want. This is confusing when you first start, but with time and practice, knowing where to find your favorite features becomes easy.

Feature Set:  

Complete German Learning Suite comes with four software categories, audio CDs and a workbook. The basic core of this suite is the program Learn German Now, an intuitive language learning tool. The suite includes some fun games to give you a break from standard learning methods. Our favorites were hangman and the crossword puzzles.

Another helpful feature any German student will appreciate is the ability to slow down the sound-you can slow down the pronunciation of each German word to listen to every syllable as it's pronounced. However, we were disappointed with the speech recognition tool; Complete German Language Suite was inaccurate when measuring our voices, offering inaccurate praise for poor pronunciation.

Ease of Installation:  

Installing Complete German Learning Suite was easy. The only liability was that we had to install several different programs, not just one. There wasn't anything difficult about this, but took time.

Normal email response time from Transparent is two business days. Technical Support is open Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. EST. Complete German Learning Suite offers FAQs and updates from their homepage. You can also fill out a technical support request form or call their support line at 1-800-567-9619.

Fundamentals:  

The Complete German Learning Suite does a good job covering German language fundamentals, particularly the reading section. Included with this program are thousands of German words combinations that teach proper sentence construction, vocabulary, and grammar skills. And the record and playback feature allow you to judge how well you pronounce each word.

Effectiveness:  

This suite with take you from a beginner to intermediate in no time. The package comes a wide variety of programs to suit any learning style. We felt the program would be more effective, though, if there were a simple way to track progress.

You won't be bored with the software in Complete German Learning Suite, because there are several programs to choose from. We found one major flaw with this suite, however. Even though Transparent offers a variety of programs, they don't offer any goal tracking tools. To learn German or any language, you must take an active goal-setting approach and challenge yourself daily.
